From Aldergrove to the World Stage: Langley United Alumni Joel Waterman Named to Canada's 2026 FIFA World Cup Squad

Joel Waterman is a former Langley United youth player who started his soccer journey at age five in Aldergrove, came through our program at the U13–U15 level, captained the TWU Spartans, and has just been named to Canada's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup — his second World Cup, and this time on home soil.
He made history in 2020 as the first Canadian Premier League player to transfer directly to MLS, joining CF Montréal after his time with Cavalry FC. He went on to represent Canada at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar — the only player on that roster born and raised in B.C. — and returned for the 2024 Copa América. He is now a defender with Chicago Fire FC.
We are so proud of everything Joel has achieved. A LUSA kid, through and through.
Believe in the process. 💛💙
